Melon Juice
This creamy Melon Juice recipe is a sure fire way to cool you down on a hot day! A pitcher of this refreshing beverage with strips of cantaloupe is just so refreshing!

Back home in the Philippines, I can down three glasses of melon juice in one sitting. It’s a cool drink that is commonly sold by sidewalk vendors along with buko juice and sago at gulaman.Â
Melon juice or cantaloupe juice is a drink I thoroughly enjoy not only during summer but all year round. Here in France, fresh cantaloupe can be easily bought in grocery stores or fruit stands. We enjoy having it on it’s own or turning it into a cold refreshing drink.

What does cantaloupe juice taste like?
The fruit itself is delicately delicious and obviously have health benefits. It has a distinctive sweet flavor and the flesh or meat is juicy and tender when ripe. When turned into a drink, the sweetness is reduced that is why sugar or a simple syrup is added to balance the taste.

How to choose a ripe cantaloupe/melon
Selecting a ripe melon for this recipe is important to have the best result. The meat should have a creamy yellowish color which is the first sign of ripeness. Avoid choosing melons with brown or soft spots and it should be firm but not too soft or too hard.Â
How to prepare the cantaloupe
Preparing the cantaloupe is super easy but does require a special tool to make the melon ribbon strips. A melon scraper which I bought from the Philippines is needed to scrape the flesh of the sweet fruit. But do not let it stop you from making this drink if you don’t have this. You can scoop out the melon using a spoon and cut it into strips.

Best cantaloupe juice recipe
This fool-proof recipe is so quick and easy that you don’t even need a fancy juicer or blender to make it. It only uses a few ingredients and what’s even better is you can adjust it’s sweetness according to your preference. And to make it healthier, you can substitute sugar with honey or agave. You can also try tipping in ginger or mint leaves to make a complex-flavored drink.
Can you make it without milk?
You can make this juice recipe even without milk. I personally enjoy the creaminess of the drink but adding evaporated or fresh milk is entirely up to you. Normally, cantaloupes have a chemical compound which interacts with milk proteins that can render a bitter taste. To avoid this, add some more sweetener to balance out the bitterness or stir in the milk just before serving.Â
