Naan recipe
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 pot (150 grams) greek yogurt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution of ingredients.1 1/4 cup all purpose flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the yogurt.1 pot (150 grams) greek yogurt
- Using a spoon or your hands, mix the wet and dry ingredients together until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let the dough rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- After the dough has rested, divide it into equal-sized portions and roll into a ball. Cover the dough pieces with a clean kitchen towel.
- Pre heat a skillet or pan over medium heat.
- Take a piece of dough then flatten with a rolling pin into a circle or oval shape. The naan should be about 1/8 inch thick.
- Once the pan is hot, carefully place one rolled-out naan onto the skillet. Cook for about 1-2 minutes on one side until bubbles start to form and the bottom is golden brown.
- Flip the naan using a spatula and cook for another 1 minutes on the other side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the cooked naan from the skillet and place it on a plate then cover with a clean kitchen towel. Repeat the process with the rest of the dough.
- Brush with a little melted butter or ghee if desired. Serve warm with your favorite curries or enjoy on its own.
