Ingredients

  • 4 pieces plantain bananas or saba / saging na saba
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Peel plantains or saba and cut into desired shape. Soak in water to avoid discoloration. Set aside.

  • Pour water in a cooking pot and bring to a boil. When water starts to boil, add brown sugar.
    3 cups water, 2 cups brown sugar
  • Stir occasionally until sugar dissolves. Tip in salt and vanilla extract and stir to incorporate.

  • Add plantains then adjust to medium heat. Cover cooking pot with lid and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until until tender.
  • Transfer plantain bananas including the sauce in a serving bowl and let it cool down. Serve and enjoy. Bon appetit!
