Gising - Gising
Gising gising is a ground pork and green bean dish cooked in coconut milk. Bagoong (shrimp paste) is used to enhance the flavor. This version calls for chili to make it spicier.
Servings: 6 people
- 1/2 kilo ground pork rinse thoroughly
- 2 cups green beans cut into small pieces
- 1 pc green chili pepper
- 1 pc Siling Labuyo (Filipino bird's eye)
- 250 grams coconut milk
- 2 tbsp shrimp paste
- 3 tbsp fish sauce
- salt & pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 medium onion sliced
- 2 cloves garlic crushed
Rinse and drain the ground pork really well. Wash the green beans thoroughly after cutting.
In a frying pan, heat cooking oil then saute garlic, onion and bagoong (shrimp paste). Add the ground pork,stir then let simmer for 5 minutes.
When the pork is brownish in color, put in the green beans then stir. Add the coconut milk and mix. Cover the pan and simmer for 10 minutes or when the beans are soft.
Add the green chili, siling labuyo and stir. Cover again and let simmer for 10 minutes.
Taste then add salt and pepper to get the desired saltiness and spice.
