Pan-seared salmon with herbs is a delicious easy salmon recipe ready in minutes! This salmon recipe is easy to customize with your favorite herbs and takes less than 15 minutes from start to finish. Salmon is one of the proteins that we love. I try to include it in my meal plan at least once or twice a month. Searing salmon in a hot pan is a top-pick way to cook it. You might be wondering why we love salmon so much? A good reason is — it’s a fish that’s delicious, affordable, easy to find, packed with protein and omega-3s and other healthy nutrients, and it pairs perfectly with a variety of seasonings and sauces.

Skin-on or skin-off for salmon?

  • Even if you’re not a fan of salmon skin, I highly suggest buying your filets skin-on — if nothing else because it will help prevent the salmon from drying out while cooking.  You can always eat around the skin.

How to make pan-seared salmon with herbs

  • Season all sides of salmon with salt and pepper.
  • Heat butter in a large non-stick pan or skillet over medium-high heat until melted.
  • Sear salmon on one side first, pressing them lightly so the entire surface of the flesh comes into contact with the pan, until golden.
  • Flip and sear the other side until the golden.
  • Remove salmon and using the same pan add chopped herbs and cook for 2 minutes. Add more butter if needed.
  • Pour the herbs on the seared salmon and squeeze some lemon juice for some zest if you fancy.

Tips for Pan-seared salmon with Herbs

  • You can substitute the butter with 2 tablespoons of olive oil if you don’t want to use butter.
  • If you can, try using fresh herbs as much as possible.

Ingredients

  • 4 salmon fillet skin on or without
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh rosemary
  • 50 grams butter
  • salt and pepper for seasoning

Instructions

  • Wash salmon fillet in running water and drain excess water. Pat dry using kitchen towels.
  • Season salmon with salt and pepper on all sides. Set aside
  • Heat butter in a large non-stick pan or skillet over medium-high heat until melted.
  • Sear salmon on one side first, pressing them lightly so the entire surface of the flesh comes into contact with the pan, until golden.
  • Flip and sear the other side until the golden. NOTE: With skin-on, sear skin side until crispy.
  • Remove salmon and transfer on a plate. Using the same pan add chopped herbs and cook for 2 minutes. Add more butter if needed.
  • Pour the herbs on the seared salmon and squeeze some lemon juice for some zest if you fancy. Bon Appetit!
