About The Recipe
This is a quick and easy pepper steak stir fry recipe that is probably one of the most delicious beef recipe I’ve ever shared with you. Hands down taste better if not the same as the one from restaurants.
It took a couple of tries to balance the flavorful pepper gravy and the right amount of toasted garlic but still bring out the flavor of the beef. It’s a great homemade dish with a side of steamed rice or bread and definitely better than a take-out!
Preparing The Beef
Making the dish involves four simple steps to complete. The first step is to marinate the beef slices to make it flavorful and tender. I used sirloin beef that are thinly cut and marinated in a mixture of seasonings, spices, and sauces. I let the beef soak the flavors for at least an hour before frying.
Making Fried Garlic
Toasted or fried garlic is not that hard to make. Do this step first when the beef is ready to cook. You’ll need at least 6 cloves of garlic and butter to fry the garlic in. Melt butter in a large skillet or pan over low heat to avoid burning. Once the butter melts, cook the garlic for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown and a little bit toasted. Remove garlic from the pan and set aside.
Frying The Beef
Once the beef is nicely marinated, Use the same pan where the garlic were cooked in. Add some more butter and stir-fry the beef in low medium heat for 4-5 minutes. Do not overcook the meat to prevent it from being tough like rubber. Remember we want it tender.
Making The Pepper Gravy
The gravy is so simple to make but I’ll share a little technique to bring out the taste of the beef and prevent raw flour tasting gravy. You need to cook the flour first for 2-3 minutes in low heat when making the roux. Add the softened butter into the flour and whisk it until it turns into a paste. Then pour the beef broth and the rest of the gravy ingredients until desired thickness is achieved.
